Consider also the parroting of political talking points and the innuendo and hostile attacks against progressive Democratic candidates that parade as professional interviews on mainstream TV. Playing follow-the-leader, some news shows imply that popular progressive candidates like Tulsi Gabbard and Bernie Sanders are "Russian assets," just as Hillary Clinton has done. Other media outlets feature extreme right-wing commentary. Fortunately, there are still many top-notch independent journalists, including Pulitzer Prize winners, who publish on the internet and dare to speak the truth in their blogs.
Part 2 asks if we have hit bottom yet. Have we not seen the handwriting on the wall?
In Part 3, I will raise critical questions that have emerged from my own quest to find meaning and purpose in these frightening times. I will argue that we need to look beyond our habitual sources for answers.
