As you have noticed, newspaper editors are really "into" touting global warming solutions: Write to journalists and ask them to write about going more local, as part of the solution. That way, lots of people will catch the trend. Bingo! We've got a wave going, and finally, a cultural trend. Thank you, journalists, and thanks to those of you who contacted them with a suggestion which helped!
The gist of it is this:
My bet is that precisely because of the increased gas prices, things are going to be more community-oriented and more locally-based than ever before. Villages may come together. I know that sounds so idealistic, but really... Surely you know how fun it is to go to the farmer's market and talk with the farmers, run into your friends and acquaintances, etc? Isn't it *really* as if "villages come together"? To me, that truly is the experience. It's a joy, and half the fun of shopping at the farmer's market! There really is a communal feeling about it. It's fun!
Mr Bush, how ironic that you fought off global warming scientists like the plague, even gagged them, yet now you yourself are a catalyst to the solution!
Ohhhh my god, I can't believe I just said that....there's a shock wave going through my body. I'm shuddering. If you feel the same way, trust me so do I. But perhaps it's really true?
Please post your own solutions below!
Thank you.
