The corporate press, with its agenda of distorting the truth for its own benefit, attacks this sensible law, calling it the "Right to Shoot First Law" and falsely claims that the law defends the actions of George Zimmerman who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, a black teenager "armed" with some Skittles candy and some iced tea and wearing a white hoodie. It does not. Nothing in the provision of "Stand Your Ground" gives any defense to Zimmerman. The law, as it logically should be, is all in the favor of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was the apparent aggressor, initiating the confrontation, which he had been repeatedly warned by the police dispatcher not to do.

Fear causes laws to be enacted against us all which have miniscule effects upon the very small minority of the people contributing to society's problems. Murder is illegal. Still, regrettably, it happens. We already have many laws. One hundred new laws, which only the average law-abiding Americans would obey, will not stop murders by the violent psychopaths any more than corporation-written laws will curb the greed of the wealthiest of the wealthy. It is counter-productive for us to push for new laws which limit the rights of law-abiding citizens.

This brings us to ALEC, the American Legislation Exchange Council.

Along with legislators, corporations have membership in ALEC, sit on all nine of ALEC's task forces and vote with legislators to approve "model" bills to be introduced state by state, advancing the corporate agenda of profit and control, flushing the rights of the People down the toilet. (ALEC CorporationSourcewatch.org)

The corporations provide the money and legislators fall in line and introduce these corporation- initiated bills. The corporate press does the PR to influence the public's perception of these bills designed to suppress the rights of the old, poor, handicapped, etc. to participate in what little is left of Democracy.

George W. Bush advanced illegal corporate wars of aggression and torture. Obama started his own war-of-choice, advanced the power of Goldman Sachs, embraced the Bush policies and further attacked human rights. Both Romney and Obama have, in the last 10 years, supported restrictions or dissolution of 2nd Amendment rights of Americans while supporting continual war anywhere on the planet to advance the plan of world domination for the multi-national banks and corporations. Within the last few days, Romney flip-flopped again and has stated that he supports the NRA.

Why do Democrats and we Progressives attack the Constitution's 2nd Amendment rights of us all? By our actions, are we guaranteeing the death of Democracy? We are no better than the Republicans who support the destruction of the voting rights of 5 to 10 % of our population. We also support a President , purchased by Goldman Sachs, who tramples on our human and civil rights, continuing torture, long imprisonment or death without trial and who orders drone attacks on innocent, non-combatant women, children and the aged.

Why do we do this?
