It's also dubious whether the U.S. can carry out a new regime-change war of the same scale as the one in Iraq, Libya, or even Yugoslavia. Washington has tried to accomplish a similar Balkanization effort in Syria by sending U.S.-backed jihadists to fight Assad by and sanctioning Assad's government, but this has failed due to Russian intervention. A U.S. invasion of Venezuela wouldn't be practical, given that Russia and China would defend the Chavista government. And while Yugoslavia expert Michael Parenti worried in 2012 that the U.S. would also carry out an aerial war in Iran that similarly leads to the Balkanization of the country, neither Obama nor Trump have been willing to do this. The shift towards a multi-polar world is making the old U.S. regime-change model less tenable.
For those caught in the unstable and impoverished situation that the imperialists have created in Libya, this global decline for the empire should be seen as an encouragement to keep resisting imperialist control--which can be done by supporting Pan-Africanism. Gaddafi was ousted because he advanced the Pan-Africanist movement, which is still a threat to imperialism. This is because Pan-Africanism stands in direct opposition to the foreign domineering of Trump and ErdoÄ?an. As an article in Pan-African Alliance explains:
Pan Africanism is the answer that our Ancestors gave us to the threat of political powerlessness. The Pan-African philosophy is deeply rooted in indigenous values and generations of jurisprudence refined by pre-colonial Black societies. Pan-Africans understand that we can never reach our fullest potential while our limits are defined by outside groups. Thus, our political struggle is... and always has been... for our own system of government, our own borders, and our own way of life as first-class citizens of our own nation rather than third-class citizens of other nations.
