congress should be climbing over each other trying to introduce
legislation to investigate, clean up and protect. Instead, we see
previous legislation that limits oil company liability to $75 million,
and Republican senators blocking efforts to raise that liability to $10
billion. And why put a limit on corporate liability at all? Limiting
liability is a form of corporate welfare that dumps financial
responsibility on government and victims.
Bottom line, we need faster action, more transparency and a major
cleanup, not just of the ocean an shorelines, but of regulatory
agencies.
last minute update-- MSNBC weatherman reports that a tail of oil has been seen on the way to or close to entering the Loop Current. This disaster is just hatching.
