The Far Right - which is not as far away as it used to be - is right about one thing, time is not on the side of the Palestinians. They can keep fighting, often violently, for a Palestinian State, or they can fight for better rights in an expanded Israel. It's hard to see how they can have both.
One tactic could be a new IDS movement, to counter the aging, counter-progressive*, and increasingly unrealistic BDS movement. IDS =
1. Invest in Israel, from America and elsewhere, that meet criteria #2 below
2. Diversify the workforce including Palestinians and other marginalized minorities
3. Sell as many Israeli products that meet conditions 1 & 2 above as possible to bring as much prosperity to everyone as possible.
I don't know if IDS will catch on as much as BDS has, but it's something a lot of people could get behind, including Palestinians who are tired of poverty and dying for a hopeless cause, and just want a better life for themselves and the next generation. It's time for true progressives to embrace something actually new like IDS within a One State framework.
* One cannot reasonably call oneself a Progressive unless Peace and not war is uppermost in one's list of priorities. Neither Democrats nor Republicans have peace anywhere near the top. Note how Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats only time applauding Presidents Trump's SOTU speech was when he talked about using force (i.e. war) to overthrow the elected government of Venezuela. The same attitude extends to Israel, when "Foreign Aid" really means more weapons Israel turns around and buys from America with American "aid." Progressive also cannot mean supporting the most regressive, anti-human rights regimes in the world, including those in the Arab and Palestinian lands.
