Still, the information raises new questions about military suicides which, during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and afterward, exceeded combat deaths and sometimes amounted to one death a day. The suicides were not highly correlated with combat or even deployment, but Paxil was the preferred SSRI given out in the military said a 2011 paper in Professional Psychology: Research and Practice. Between 2001 and 2009, 17,830 prescriptions for Paxil were dispensed according to Tricare data and the Veterans Administration's Iraq War Clinician Guide calls Paxil and other SSRIs "ï rst line medications."
The researchers who reviewed Paxil's safety in the British Medical Journal should be commended for their perseverance. But how many other drugs the public is taking are not as safe as they seem?
