In any event, in the present OEN article, I mention Ong by name 81 times; I mention McChrystal by name 34 times; so, I mention Ong by name more than twice as frequently as I mention McChrystal by name in the present OEN article.

Now, before I round off the present OEN article, I also want to say explicitly here that I do NOT claim here or elsewhere that there are no serious problems whatsoever with the various forms of porn that are available free on the internet. However, at this stage of my life (I'm 81 years old now), my mission in writing my various OEN articles about porn is to call attention to the possible positive potential of porn that is available free on the internet -- it is not my mission in life to call attention to certain possible harms of some kinds of porn that are available free on the internet. For a candid discussion of certain possible harms of porn that is available free on the internet, see Christine Emba's op-ed titled "The Delusion of Porn's Harmlessness" in The New York Times (dated May 19, 2025):

Christine Emba is the author of the book Rethinking Sex: A Provocation (Sentinel, 2022).

At the present time, Christine Emba is a Senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) in Washington. D.C.

For Ong's thought-provoking book about gender, see his Fighting for Life: Contest, Sexuality [Gender], and Consciousness (Cornell University Press, mentioned above.

I have written about Ong's provocative 1981 book about gender in my essay "Faulkner and Male Agonism" in the anthology Time, Memory, and the verbal arts: essays on the Thought of Walter Ong, edited by Dennis L. Weeks and Jane Hoogestraat (Susquehanna University Press; Associated University Presses, 1998, pp. 203-221).

Now, in any event, I can assure you that you will find retired U.S. Army General Stanley McChrystal's 68 autobiographical chapters thought-provoking to read. However, for understandable reasons, I cannot predict the extent to which reading his thought-provoking autobiographical chapters will stimulate you to reflect afresh on certain aspects of your own life and your own convictions.

He is the proud author of the book (more...)
