If all that – all the men and materials in your domain – were chattel and you the de facto owner of the fiat economy, how would you explain away three trillion ‘missing’ dollars when your chattel are struggling to ‘correct’ imbalances in their fiat system by piling some seven hundred billion onto their children’s debt?
You probably wouldn’t bother other than throwing around the word ‘trillions’ over and over for people to get used to, because whatever you needed you would simply extract from that economy or other existing resources unconstrained by your fiat machine.
You would of necessity and of course keep a standing homeland army to defend your food reserves and properties against the simplicities of supply-and-demand from the local populace.
Your would generously allow your chattel a means of exchange they could play with, giving them the only two options they could have as chattel rather than co-owners: save or speculate, neither occupation which would ever come near encroaching on your real resource-based system – unless usury crept in and threatened to destroy your fiat machine.
Unless by that it did encroach. Unless the chattel found out that you had sold their national heritage? Maybe yelling the word ‘trillion’ over and over as you are doing might not work?
A perfect example of the same situation happened in Rome around the time of Nero’s rule (See Tacitus’ Annals, Chapter Six).
