Over nearly two decades four presidents from both parties haven’t hesitated to exercise their power to involve our military in all sorts of ways in at least 85 countries around the world in the name of defeating “terrorism” or “violent extremism.”

Providing the thinnest of legal foundations for all of this have been two ancient acts of Congress. The first was the authorization for the use of military force (AUMF) that allowed the president to act against “those nations, organizations or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons”..

Bush's AUMF 2001 and AUMF 2002 never authorized 'all the big lies he told about Iraq' - 'the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon', Bush shouted into his 'bullhorn' shortly after 9/11, except of course, it wasn't the Iraqis nor the Afghanis, but Bush had lied to the American People and congress 'to make it so'. Bush's Iraq War "Fraudulent Justification" - Article II. Article XVIII "Torture" as "a Matter of Official Policy".

No such country named "America" except as a nickname, and the USA hasn't been in declared War since 1945. The rest are Illegal Invasions, Police Actions, Military Actions, or whatnot.

What's so hard about getting correct terms?

No such country called "America" 'cept as a sort of musical nickname for the USA....and there hasn't been a certified war since 1945, though many like that dramatic word.

Would it not be more effective to properly and correctly call US military actions overseas "military invasions", "illegal invasions" , "unjustified military actions", "un-declared wars", or the like?

USA hasn't been in an official "war" since 1945. Since then we've has "military insertions", "illegal invasions", and the like....but apparently "war" seems more big and dramatic to many.
