by Joan Walsh. Mueller came as close as possible to saying that he would have indicted Trump for obstruction of justice, if Justice Department policy allowed him to do so. “Charging the president with a crime was not an option we could consider,” he said. But then he delivered the most important information in his 10-minute statement: “If we had confidence the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so. We did not.”

I don't think "when" instead of "if" is semantically significant in the way the author conjectures. It's pretty clear anyway from the statement he is saying Trump did those things. The main point, I think, was to push back on the Barr theory that there could be no obstruction since there was no crime. On the contrary, there were many crimes alleged in the indictments and in the report. Trump interfered in significant ways with his efforts to get at the truth of those crimes, he implies (but does not formally charge).

Here, though, it doesn't much matter. The vast majority of OEN readers and commenters seem to be "Russiagate hoaxers", who believe the entire investigation was a Deep State coup attempt. McGovern, Binney and Parry said it so it must be true.

The best thing Democrats can do is to admit their mistake. Otherwise, they will suffer long-lasting damage. Have you noticed by any chance that Trump won? Have you noticed by any chance that his policy best fits the rich? My conclusion: Democrats have been played by the rich.
