These "felony" convictions of Water Protectors are bullshit; they criminalize protests against crimes committed on our waters, our lands, and our peoples - while the true felons poison us all and reap the profits of their crimes.
There are other articles in the Bismarck Tribune and other ND newspapers, but the Tribune wants you to "buy" a subscription to view their (IMO, biased against Water Protectors) articles.
These are bogus trials and convictions of Water Protectors. Roderick Joe and the 400 other protestors on the tracks, otherwise having NO prior "criminal" record, were protesting the missing and murdered Indigenous women resulting from fossil-fuel-by-rail exports and the fossil-fuel industry's "man camps" and the resulting trafficking of Indigenous women and children.
