If Wingate had not been in Palestine, and advanced Jewish social ideas and other ideas had prevailed, especially initial Zionist efforts to collaborate with native Palestinians, the Jewish immigration after the Holocaust much better, perhaps even fully-beneficial. Perhaps the Middle East would be at peace now, and not being sucked into the vortex of sectarian genocide.
Two factors:
* Property protection was leveraged to create a Palestinian proletariat by the eviction of long-term tenant farmers to create Jewish farms, and then
* Backlash led to collective punishment by Wingate's command that punished the innocent especially Arab families who protected Jews from Arab mobs.
