Yesterday, around 4:00 PM EST, the company that provides our server lost power because of a hail storm. The site was down for over 16 hours.  Finally, it's back up.  We pay a premium price for a dedicated private server and this company came highly  recommended. There's not much that can be done in response to acts of god.

Some thoughts:

Death by vomiting on ER Floor; Murder Weapon: Denial of Universal Health Insurance

RIP Edith Rodriguez, Killed Because of Lack of Universal Health Care

The Latina who died in the ER, Edith Rodriguez, writhing in pain, on the floor of LA's King hospital blood, was not only killed by the heartless inaction of the doctors, nurses and staff on duty there.

An LA spokesman said that "even the janitors doing an elegant job of cleaning up the vomit did nothing to help her."

Rodriguez was also killed by America's failure to enact universal health care via single payer.

She would not have died in any of the first world countries that have universal health care.

Why are the lamestream media failing to recognize this?

One can only guess that she was turned away for.... click here to read the rest of the article.

DEM CONGRESS POLLS LOWER THAN BUSH. They Deserve it, and what you can do about it.

It's not surprising. Here's a new article: New Report Documents Progressive American Majority Independent Public Polls Debunk Conventional Wisdom That Americans Agree With Conservative Agenda.

The message-- Americans are a lot more progressive than the media and politicians think, get or understand. We are all pissed that the Dem led congress is still pandering to centrist and right wing "republicrat" leaders and pressure groups. Pelosi is failing to walk her talk and live by the values that she was elected to represent. It's time to throw out the centrist failures in the Dem party-- the dinosaurs who are failing to represent the people who elect them. And we must start at the local level. YOU should run for or support progressive candidates for committeeman jobs at the municipal, township, county and state levels.

Middle East Chaos-- Civil War Everywhere You Turn

Iraq, Lebanon, Gaza-- the middle east is descending into a dangerous chaos. Iran seems to be playing a major role in Lebanon and Gaza, providing weapons. This is bad for possibilites of peace, bad for energy prices, bad for the fight against terrorism. And Condeleeza Rice? Where is she? What is Bush doing about this? Nothing worth noting. We need more efforts by the dems, since the Bush admin seems to have no interest.

Then there are those who support the Palestinians. Do you support Hamas, which is now sending out kill squads to execute/assassinate Fatah members, as "traitors?" What are the hopes for peace between Israel and Palestine now? And don't even think about blaming this civil war on the Israelis. Yes, they have played a role, but the Iranians, the Saudis and the rest of the Arab world have also contributed to the development of this situation.

Wanted: YOUR Contribution to Support OpEdNews

Like I mentioned yesterday, we were rejected by a major third party ad broker, because we didn't meet their criteria. We surely meet the traffic criteria. I think it was because of our contents. We don't wear kid gloves. We go for tough truths. We don't hold back. You are a part of that WE. If you can afford to make a donation, please do it. If you've given before, thank you. If it's been a while, give again. This month, our overhead is up considerably. We'll have four people covering the take back America conference and that involves considerable expenses-- travel, meals, printing, shipping... at least $1000 extra (hotel fees in D.C. are a fortune.) Please make a contribution today. Click here to kick in what you can afford.

Thanks,
