What's happening on the ground in Iraq

My name is Doris Wenzel. I live in Illinois.

My son has a son in Iraq. Today he sent a letter from the wife of one of his son's officers. I have edited out the information about where they are, etc,
but think you should know, once again, as in every war I've ever observed, our troops are not well cared for, and in this illegitimate one, is is particularly sad. I think, if this administration had built a strong standing army at the ready here at home, and kept the National Guard home to take care of this country's considerable problems, and spent the billions they have spent in a country that had nothing to do with 911, to track down terrorists, we, and the civilians in Iraq would be in a better place, and our sons and daughters would not be in harms way.

From Mrs. G's email:

Hey Everyone,

This applies to 2nd Plt, I haven't heard anything about any of the other Plt's they are still working on the communication thing. And I am working on getting new contacts to get information on the guys in the other Plt's. But I don't know who all is in 2nd Plt without looking it up, so I'm sending this out to everyone.

I talked to -- today. He said that he is doing good. They are staying really busy because .... they don't have enough guys there to do it all. The rest of the company is at.... He told me to send food a.s.a.p, the food situation there sucks. Because of where they are at, they are only getting one meal a day. They did have frozen food that they could throw on
the grill for lunch but now that is all gone and not sure when they will restock it. They do have a microwave, so we can send microwavable items and
canned foods. They have running water, showers, sinks and toilets. He said he likes where they are at with the except for the food thing. He said it is
quiet] there so he is a little bored but has lots to do. I told him that I like him being bored and I will send him some hand-held games.)

Anyway, just wanted to give you an update and let you guys know that you may want to send out an extra package with some canned goods or microwavable items. I need to go get ready and head off to Walmart to buy him more stuff.
I can't stand the fact that he is having to go hungry so I'd like to just buy Walmart and send it to him.

Take care.
