All The President's Liars: Where the Hell are The Washington Post and New York Times on McClellangate?!

by Steve Young
Do the investigative reporters at the Washington Post  and New York Times fall under the Writers Guild Contract?  Are Bernstein and Woodward too busy in makeup? Can the WGA and Producers get together and give satirical news an exemption?
While the Writers Strike keeps The Daily Show from cleverly pointing out the obvious, The Washington Post and New York Times ignore the obvious altogether.
We've been lied to by this White House.
Who says?  Scott McClellan, the guy who was paid to lie for the guys who lied in the first place.
Of course, if he really wanted to bare his soul he would have let Helen Thomas write the foreword of "What Happened: Was I Lying Then Or Am I Lying Now?"
Point is, other than blogs and the Keith Olbermann network - and  the Writers Strike continuing to keep Jon Stewart, Bill Maher and Stephen Colbert on the sidelines - we're left with the right to spin an insider story of a White House coverup.
The so-called liberal Mainstream Media?  Try to find the McClellan revelation in todays liberal bastions, Washington Post or the New York Times.
Wonder if Howard Kurtz will wonder how his print employer, the one that was Ben Bradlee's once proud publication during Watergate, could have been missed what should be a blockbuster tale of deception of the American people at the very highest level.
The McClellan story may not be the smoking gun that leads to impeachment, but it could unlock the inner-workings of a White House who doesn't trust the American people with the truth and sees the betrayal of a covert CIA spy as acceptable politics.  And that's not worth of a mention?
That's not to say that the broadcast's Lords of Loud won't cover McClellan's story.
Bill O'Reilly: It's a non-story.  I said so in "Culture Warrior", now out in paperback.
Sean Hannity: Vince Foster, Kathleen Willey, Could have had bin Laden on a silver platter.
Mark Levin: McClellan is a brownshirt of the Clinton crime family.
Sean Hannity: George Soros, Moveon.org, I did not have sex with that woman...
Rush Limbaugh: So, McClellan is a proven liar.  Why would we believe anything he says?
Sean Hannity: ACLU, New York Times, Human effect on global warming a sham
Michelle Malkin: Why is hell is Ingraham sitting in for Bill?
And The Washington Post?
(Cricket sound here)
If Ben Bradlee were dead he'd be spinning in his grave.

Free Press anyone?

The formerly investigative reporters have become invested reporters.  Corporate America now owns the "free press" that we used to depend on to expose corruption in DC.  One of the many changes we need to make within our government is to make it illegal for any non-media company/corporation to own or control any member of the press.  The liability of our "free press" needs to be better defined and enforced.  Many changes or corrections  need to be applied to our government to control the corruption and illegal, un-Constitutional criminal acts being carried out by the administration and Congress.  Without the watchdog of an investigatory "free press"  we are lacking a very necessary tool in the never ending quest for a truely representative style of government free of immoral and illegal tendancies.  We need Edward R. Murrow and his integrity to once again rule the news media.

Nobody knows

Without any negative comment except to say it didn't look good for George, on L.A. radio, Doug McIntyre mentioned it about three time and hour for four hours.

Peter Tilden talked about it, but at 2 and 3 a.m., who remembers what he said.

Of course, Bill Press asked the same thing as is Thom Hartmann as I write this.

Where's the main stream meda?  Well, we know how some of the press can be a lot slow on the up-take, like on Iraq, about five years slow.

Whoa!  Small world.  Hartmann just mentioned this column.  Way to go!

Where are they? In the pockets of those that own them.

I have always been of the opinion that the Plame/Wilson case was going to be the "leak" that would sink the bush cabal ship. Of all the crimes we know of so far, this one seems the most, despicable and petty. I could never imagine even the most die-hard bush followers backing him up on this one.

I was wrong.

And unfortunately as right as this article points out, impeachment should indeed be put forth, I fear that yet again it won't happen. And to be straight with you, I don't know why. It could be a combination of things, lack of public awareness, apathy, MSM manipulation, broken government, cowardliness, bullshit politics, corruption, whatever it is and as mush as I would thrilled to see it happen I just don't think it will. And believe me next to hitting the lottery on my wish list impeachment would be a close second.

I don't mean to bust anyone's bubble, but anyone following the antics of this administration knows that these characters are the most diabolical to ever occupy the White House and indeed are guilty of far worse crimes.

But I certainly hope I'm wrong and we do have a Merry Christmas with impeachment proceedings in the works. It would be nice. But, again, maybe it's because I'm just tired of getting disappointed that I don't want to get my hopes up just to have them smacked down once more. However, I will make the obligatory calls and write the letters, yet again, expressing the points brought up in this article and hope I that I may be pleasantly surprised.

Not so fast...

Actually, the Washington Post and the New York Times both have several mentions of this story:

Absolutely right,

This should have been the story that brought down this administration.

In any other time ...and in any other country.

Americans love to say we're the best democracy in the world. Yay team. How can anyone claim that? We've got a dismal form of democracy with little accounting. Look at our last two presidential elections... in any other country there would have been an automatic recount with international observers present. Look at what it took to get rid of an utterly corrupt and incompetant attorney general. Look at the tragically ridiculous relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. And look at an administration that has been caught in so many transparent lies and yet goes on as if nothing's wrong. Look at the socalled  'opposition party' who may have stalled war funding this time but have approved other items on the Bush/GOP wish list.

And through all this, ....for all our proud tradition of american investigative journalism awoken, revitalized, digging deep to uncover the whole story ...they should've been given ample copy space and airtime to get the american public to ask the real questions... what does the mainstream media  give us??   Paris bloody Hilton leaving jail or Britney freakin Spears shaving her head !!!!

   Fer cryin out loud.

But, if I've anything to feel thankful for (on this approaching We're thankful for something Day )   it's the internet and blog sites like this one and the Daily Kos, and newsgroups like MoveOn and TruthOut. Good to know that the truth can't be buried. Which can't be owned until corporate America completes its designs for total dominion over the flow of information.

'The people are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.' Thomas Jefferson 1787
Munich'The people are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.' Thomas Jefferson 1787

Our reticent "corporate" media.

Sadly, with this corrupt truculent Bush cabal, the days of reporting the truth and seeing to it that justice is served are long since gone. Bush and Cheney are impervious to any law and order what so ever. They wield an enormus amount of power, which corrupts absolutely.
If I could just note, everyone does remember the Clinton Lewinsky scandal don't they? Ahhh! the good ole days, when this same so called "liberal" media covered that scandal 24-7, like white on rice. They made certain that Clinton was held accountable. But you see that was a much more pernicious scandal than Bush an Cheney having lied this once great country of ours into an illegal and horrific war. Don't you think!
As Elliot Cohen, author of “The Last Days of Democracy,” states: The way things are going, the media are thinking as corporate executives and not journalists.  They’re thinking about their obligations to their shareholders; they’re thinking about their bottom line. And that kind of thinking is incompatible with the Fourth Estate that’s independent of government—not when you’re in business with the government.

Historically Unprecedented, Impeachable Offenses by the Exec

The truth about their lies can't be disappeared...Here it comes, see below:

This latest "scoop" may drop off the radar like everything else apparently does; but documentation is being compiled and stored in myriad locations. People "are watching" and taking note, and I believe justice will be served in it's own time, this time.

Go see www.worldreports.org (first article:  NEWS -- WANTA'S TAX 1.57 TRILLION... & archives, if you want to catch up) and the ongoing drama regarding high crimes by members of the current administration, et.al. -- current monumental banking fraud is being documented by PROMIS software, and is considered "hard data" revealing the perpetrators.  Don't sit on this; E-Mail to others and circumvent the MSM.
