Commercial fiction and 9/11 truth have formed a strange marriage, and a mutually beneficial relationship. The original 40,000 book print run of “The Shell Game” is almost sold out even before the book has even hit the bookstores. A big part of that success may be from the growing support of the 9/11 truth community who has come to largely enthusiastically realize, although for a few some times begrudgingly, that “The Shell Game” will, in the end, help draw a much larger audience to the 9/11 truth movement.
Using fiction to fight for factual truth, was a stretch for some 9/11 activists, but the tide is quickly changing. "The 9/11 Truth movement is growing exponentially..."
Sure it is. So, let's take a look at reality, shall we? Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth ( http://www.aetruth911.org/ ) has been praised by a majority of Truthers for offering scientifically valid analyses of the 9/11 events. The group is composed on architects, engineers, and like-minded people that apply for differing types of membership based largely upon their credentials. There is also a membership fee that's required as part of the application, which varies depending upon your credentials.
This is all very fair and legitimate and no different than other similar scientific bodies. However, as an applicant you must also agree to sign their petition so that your name and title are bandied about to add "legitimacy" to their claiming to be a scientific body. This requirement, though, is not in keeping with other science-minded organizations and should raise a little flag for someone wanting to join.
Regardless, what's their growth been like among it architect and engineer membership since its inception in May 2007? Indeed, Richard Gage – the web sites founder – makes the following claim, "Maybe now you understand why our membership of architects, engineers, and other building professionals, who are all calling for a science-based forensic investigation - which has yet to be performed - is growing exponentially!" - http://www.ae911truth.org/info/23 .
Is this statement true? Unfortunately for Mr. Gage, it is not true – which again should be raising a little flag for someone wanting to join a body of people dedicated to revealing what (?) – the truth. Yet, the web site's founder has no problem lying when it comes to promoting the site and its cause.
And how do we know he's lying? Let's review the ae911truth .org membership growth - http://911guide.googlepages.com/ae911truth . As the graph shows in stark reality, the growth for this group of Truthers is linear (at best) with a plateau starting to form (has membership peaked?). Where he started with 48 members in May 2007, Mr. Gage should have about 6,150 members by the end of December 2007 to demonstrate exponential growth. He still doesn't have anywhere near that number of members, if we include the non-credentialed folks, whose number appears in reduced font compared to the credentialed people.
As of today, January 4, 2008, ae911truth.org has a total of 860 members.
Therefore, unless your using imaginary numbers, differential equations, or even "fuzzy math", the 9/11 Truth movement, as detailed in a sample population, is NOT growing exponentially. The far more important question is, "Why isn't it growing exponentially, if what the Truth movement offers is readily apparent?"

Tom apparently hasn't read the polls and checked viewership
According to public opinion polls the number of people who now believe there's a 9/11 cover up, and those believing there was govt. complicity has grown by the millions over the years.
Loose Change has been viewed on national TV in many nations, and is so popular in the UK that its distribution is now being expanded.
Tom simply doesn't want to see reality . . . oh, yeah, that's why he still believes the official 9/11 myth. Nuff said.
As all of us urge all we know to read this great new action novel "The Shell Game," it'll cause more and more people to want to know more and more about what happened on 9/11 and to demand a real investigation.

And now we see Mr. Douglas stretching the numbers, as well. You mentioned polls, so let's take a look at those. For the record, I don't really care for them because the results are easily manipulated via the questions, but I understand that 911Truthers live and die by the things.
(1) "How about that some people think the federal government had specific [sic] warnings of the 9/11 attacks in New york [sic] and Washington, but chose to ignore these warnings. Is this very likely, somewhat likely or not likely?
There's no news here because it parallels what the 9/11 Commission Report noted in the Chapter entitled "The System was Blinking Red" - http://govinfo.library.unt.edu/911/report/911Report_Ch8.htm . The government did take it's "eye of the prize" here with regard to the warnings, which resulted in the tragedy of 9/11. But to allege that this was due to intention instead of incompetence is another matter entirely.
So , let's see what Americans believe regarding the government's intention and possible involvement in the 9/11 attacks.
(2) "There are also accusations being made following the 9/11 terrorist attack. One of these is: People in the federal government either assisted in the 9/11 attacks or took no action to stop the attacks because they wanted to United States to go to war in the Middle East.
Huh! It appears as though the great majority of people believe in the implied incompetence issue as opposed to the intention because 59% think it unlikely that the government was involved in any "inside job".
Perhaps, this is an aberration because it fails to match the often-exclaimed "the majority of Americans think..." statements made by 911Truthers. Is the "devil in the details" as to the source of such statements being present within specific 9/11 events?
(3) "The Pentagon was not struck by an airliner captured by terrorists but, instead was hit by a cruise missle [sic] fired by the U.S. military.
Well, those results were interesting, no? It's apparent that slim minorities (i.e., 6% on each) actually believe that the government was the perpetrator behind "the inside job" of 9/11.

More than a third of the American public suspects that federal officials assisted in the 9/11 terrorist attacks or took no action to stop them so the United States could go to war in the Middle East, according to a new Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll.
Thirty-six percent of respondents overall said it is "very likely" or "somewhat likely" that federal officials either participated in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon or took no action to stop them "because they wanted the United States to go to war in the Middle East."

Zogby Poll: 51% of Americans Want Congress to Probe Bush/Cheney Regarding 9/11 Attacks; Over 30% Seek Immediate Impeachment

Kansas City, MO (Zogby International) September 6, 2007 - As America nears the sixth anniversary of the world-churning events of September 11, 2001, a new Zogby International poll finds a majority of Americans still await a Congressional investigation of President Bush' and Vice President Cheney's actions before, during and after the 9/11 attacks. Over 30% also believe Bush and/or Cheney should be immediately impeached by the House of Representatives.
The 911truth.org–sponsored poll also found that over two-thirds of Americans say the 9/11 Commission should have investigated the still unexplained collapse of the 47-story World Trade Center Building 7 at 5:20 p.m. on September 11, 2001.
WTC 7 housed the mayor's emergency bunker and offices of the SEC, IRS, CIA and Secret Service and was not hit by any planes but still completely collapsed into its own footprint nearly eight hours after the Twin Tower attacks. FEMA did not explain this collapse, the 911 Commission ignored it, and the promised official study by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is now 2 years overdue.
So, if you are asleep . . . I mean content with the official 9/11 myth as Tom is . . . then hit the snooze button . . .

I give you sourced facts, and you respond with faith in the form of "Shed Light" with a capital S and L to boot. Additionally, I give you the primary sources of the polls and you respond by referencing a secondary source to the very same primary sources - too, too funny.
If you want people to make conclusions for themselves, them shown them the primary source and not your spin on the primary via another's interpretation.
Tom isn't worried about more people "knowing" about 9/11. I think it's in every American's interest to research the issue thoroughly. What Tom DOES want is the proper label and context be placed on "The Shell Game" - Fictional Thriller and not "This is based on a true story". And Tom doesn't think that unreasonable.
Those polls are from 2006, and they directly contradict the Zogby polls of the same time which put your 6% at almost 40%. Check your sources my friend.

Get out on the streets. I see a HUGE difference between a year ago and today. The truth about 9/11 is spreading and you are obviously frustrated about this. That brings such joy to me! Nope. No pounding from me. The only thing that I KNOW I have the ability to control are my expectations and acceptance of them. All the rest is outside my domain and the last thing I'd wish to do is claim control over those things. I don't get upset when people disgaree because they are not mine to control. They are their own persons to control. So, how are you doing with your control?
I don't doubt that the raw numbers of people involved with the Movement have probably grown, but the majority of those increases appear to be curiousity seekers and not the "it was an inside job" core of people. However, they certainly have not grown exponentially. My comments were directed at correcting that little bit of "misinformation".
