After a valiant battle against brain cancer, Senator Ted Kennedy, the patriarch of the Kennedy family, succumbed to his illness this evening.

America has lost an irreplaceable hero for The People. This is a sad night for our nation. Our hearts go out to the Kennedy family, and to all who mourn this great American leader.
