I don't know
But it sure sounds like it. by JC Garrett (40 articles, 65 quicklinks, 7 diaries, 604 comments [10 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 2:29:06 AM

You bet
I heard it once. The sad thing is that Obama was telling the truth... Also, McCain thought that Spain was in Latin America. Right next to Czeckoslavakia, I'll bet. by GitarChris (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 142 comments) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 2:45:28 AM

I don't think so
The guy is ancient and has false teeth that tend to whistle. He was simply saying, "of course" to the fact that Spain is a member of NATO. The first time he said "of course" - but it came out "uh-korshha" The second time, it sounded like "korsh" by David Speakman (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 1 comments) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 3:02:07 AM

Reply: "Of course" is what they have in the official transcript
I'm just not sure. I still lean to the "Horseshit" interpretation. The lip movements, particularly the first time are much more suggestive of the word "horseshit" than "Of course" by Steven Leser (255 articles, 58 quicklinks, 38 diaries, 2147 comments [63 recommended, 2 rejected]) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 3:12:07 AM

Obama might do well to use some emphasis
To tell you the truth, I wish Obama would get mad enough to stop pulling his punches with McCain. I'm not talking about smears or lies like McCain continues to be guilty of. There are so many legitimate accusations that Obama could use. I'd like for Obama to let himself lose his temper slightly in one of these debates. He should get animated and use the word "dammit" just one time. He shouldn't use it directly towards McCain, because he would come across as cussin' McCain out. He should use it in answer to the moderator's question. Something like: "Senator McCain and I are very fortunate to have excellent healthcare that is paid for by you, the taxpayer. Now if it's okay with him that you pay for our healthcare with tax dollars, why is it not okay to pay for yours? That's just not right, dammit!" It is possible to be mad and still conduct yourself like a gentleman. And a mad gentleman will use strong language sparingly, but effectively in getting his point across. by JC Garrett (40 articles, 65 quicklinks, 7 diaries, 604 comments [10 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 6:07:33 AM

Reply: Right on!!!
I agree with you fully! It may not go over well, being used in the pulpit, but this is the real world we are dealing with, and dammit isn't even strong enough in this case. Having said that, I guess I'd better not say it in the pulpit either, heh heh. by Dak (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 47 comments [9 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 10:10:29 AM

Way too deferential
I understand that he does not want to come across as an angry black, but sometimes, he comes across as a sambo, and it's not much better. Obama tops McCain in several areas, but he does not seem to have enough agon in him, he never fights for his life, he never goes for the jugular. His problem is he is not mean, whereas Republican candidates are plenty mean. Do Americans want a couple of pitbulls in the WH, with and without lipstick, or are they tired of Republican mean? by francine (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 385 comments) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 7:29:01 AM

Oh sure,...
but was he saying it because he was angry and embarrassed, or was it simply an advertisement for the rest of his remarks through the debate? by John Sanchez Jr. (9 articles, 0 quicklinks, 25 diaries, 1791 comments [148 recommended, 3 rejected]) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 7:48:47 AM

The EXACT words are...
Sorry, folks. Horseshit is horseshit, no matter what it sounds like, and if you read his lips as I have been educated to do, "of course" doesn't even enter the picture. What REALLY disturbs me is that I didn't catch it myself; I was too intensely interested in what Obama had to say regarding Spain. I seriously wonder if we will have any international friends left after this regime is put out to pasture with their fellow "horses." Horseshit
The video is no longer available. Too bad. I was gonna check it out because I had not heard "horseshit" while I was watching the debate. But I might have dozed off. Or maybe I was yelling at the screen "stop saying McCain is absolutely right!" Oh well. by Stickshift (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 20 comments) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 12:25:20 PM

Reply: Horseshit
I fully agree the man said horsehit under his breath not once but twice. I also didn't catch it as I was yelling at Obama to stop agreeing with McCain as well. Obama needed to be much more confrontative with McCain, he really needed to pound McCain for his lack of voting for Vet's benefits in his voting record! by Tommytoons (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 14 comments) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 1:38:51 PM

"Horse Head"
Sounded to me like he had Obama confused with Lionel Richie and called him "Horse Head." Either way, "horse shit" or "horse head", it wasn't very presidential. I'm looking forward to watching the next debate in my Ojamas. by Ojamas Sleepwear (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 9 comments) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 2:58:47 PM

Mad McCain
I think that Obama and the Democrats should take advantage of McCain's temper. They should insult him and call him out every chance they get. The more the American people are able to see his emotional instability, the better. by Bob Trowbridge (1 articles, 0 quicklinks, 1 diaries, 70 comments [1 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Saturday, Sep 27, 2008 at 10:25:56 PM

From the horse's mouth
The moderator should have informed McCain that this was network television and not the floor of the Senate, so that kind of language was unacceptable. I suppose McCain decided if he couldn't dazzle them with with his brilliance, he could baffle them with his horseshit. by Dave Kisor (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 1 diaries, 310 comments [40 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Sunday, Sep 28, 2008 at 10:53:07 AM

Of Course, is even better
If McCain actually said "Of Course" as the transcript says, then that is even funnier and scarier. Because in essense, if he is saying "Of course" when Obama says that McCain is so rigid that he wouldn't even talk to Spain, that means he is agreeing with something that is preposterous. by Sumogirl (4 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 7 comments) on Sunday, Sep 28, 2008 at 7:14:13 PM
