As a Jew You Should

I am sick and tired of the malicious idiots who continue to use the term "self- hating Jew' when commenting about progressive people who dare to criticize Israel and her policy even so slightly. I thus would like to formulate here the Jewish credo, so to speak; the below does not pertain to the Jews alone but it mighty reflects my perception on what does that mean to be a Jew.

• As a Jew you should thrive to be educated as much as possible and absorb the knowledge of Humanity. Jews had been custodians of the human knowledge for a long time.
• As a Jew you should abhor cruelty to people and animals. The famous Hillell statement defines the essence of Judaism- "Treat others as you want to be treated.' That simple.
• As a Jew you should stay tall as an equal among other humans. We belong to the ancient and proud nation which survived and prospered against all odds.
• As a Jew you should reject all bigotry off any kind. Racism, religious intolerance, discriminations of any kind are forbidden for Jews. Who suffered all of those should understand other people and develop empathy.
• As a Jew you should never do anything blindly. Common sense and healthy rationality were the best qualities of the Jews for generations. No matter who, no matter what- the Jews had been the beacon of rational thinking.
• As a Jew you should support all books and all cultural endeavors, arts and sciences. Jews are the People of The Book. They were given the Mind to read it. Thus they should carry that torch.
• As a Jew you should reject any arrogance and promote equality and honesty. Any Jew who considers even for a second to be superior to other humans stops being one forever.
• As a Jew you should exercise a vehement compassion. No Jew ever should be happy with someone's death even if that person deserves his/her destiny. More than everyone else do the Jews understand that " the bell tolls for thee' and forever there is a duty to mourn all dead and help all living. That's the testament.
• As a Jew you should hate war and love peace. You should be a fearless warrior for peace.
• As a Jew you should hate fanaticism and militant ignorance of all kinds ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES FROM THE FELLOW- JEWS. Looking at yourself in the mirror is paramount.
• As a Jew you should respect the religious believes but that respect should not close your mind. Never ever surrender your mind.
• As a Jew you should refrain from malice at all costs and try to root it out.
• As a Jew you should greet all the light and pierce all the darkness.
• As a Jew you should know better:)

Last but not least: all of the above just means that you should be a good human.
