The Media, this "Surge", Freedom and Lies

This escalation of troop strength in Iraq is not a "surge"; it's an escalation of troop strength. Last night on CBS Evening News, Katie Couric showed us a "Warrior Walk" or something like that, where they plant a tree for each member of the 3rd Infantry Division killed in Iraq, and she reminds us all when she signs off; "Freedom is not Free".

Wait a minute, who's "freedom" are we talking about? Mine Couric? You surely don't think that I believe for a moment that these soldiers are fighting and dying in Iraq for "my" freedom. I was free before they were sent to Iraq and I'll be free long after Iraq is but a distant bad memory for me. Don't go pushing that "freedom" crap down my throat. Just mouthing those words made you utterly detestable and complicit along with Bush in getting innocent people; American and Iraqi's killed for an idea of "freedom" that doesn't exist. Not in real life anyway, not Bush's screwed up definition of "freedom". The only "freedom" that this war involves, is the freedom to start a war of aggression on another country in order to get their only natural resource; oil, and to use their land to build huge permanent military bases so that Bush and his business partners can control all of the oil in the Middle East.

The mainstream media is a party to this destruction of America's values and principles. We are in a war of conquest and aggression, and Katie Couric has the temerity to say that soldiers are dying for our freedom. Just as the MSM calls this a "surge", they do nothing but bolster the administration's propaganda war on the American people. As long as the MSM keeps mouthing these untrue catch phrases that the administration uses to blunt the reality of what they are really doing, the American people will be fooled into believing not the reality of what is happening, but the administrations "spin" on what's happening. It will be the MSM that allows this to happen. Until we start calling things what they are, people will never get the reality of what is happening over there.

People need to realize that we are past the time in this war where we can say with any conviction that we have no opinion on it. We have watched it for four years in our living rooms, night after night. This is one of those times in history where you have to admit to yourself where you stand. Years after the Vietnam War, I have yet to find anyone that was for it. Where are all those people that I used to argue with then? Did they all die? It's like when I was stationed in Germany. I never met one person there that said they supported Hitler or the Nazi's. Years from now you won't be able to find anyone that supported this war in Iraq. If Chney is still alive I am sure that he will tell an interviewer that he was "secretly" against this war too.

I'll say what many other people don't want to say or are afraid to say. This President is evil, he is a sociopath, and what he is doing is as bad as what any other criminal leader has done in the last 100 years. The news media has been afraid to report honestly about this war of aggression and the Democrats have been complicit with the Republicans as to the responsibility of authorizing this war. The Democrats can redeem themselves by refusing to fund any more taxpayer money towards Bush's aggressive war policies. We have 70 billion dollars that have already been authorized that we haven't yet spent that we can use to bring our soldiers home. This is not a defeat if we pull out of Iraq. It is just an admission that this war was wrong from the beginning, that it was started on lies and that we should have brought our troops home the instant that we decided that there were no WMD's in Iraq.

Bush needs to be impeached as an example to others that the United States military should not be used unless this nation is attacked or in serious danger of being attacked and that can be proven beyond a shadow of doubt. Disputes should be settled by diplomacy, and that military force is a last resort. Unless this President is charged and convicted of misusing his power as president, he will have set a precedent for others that might be inclined to use force indiscriminately. Wee have a responsibility to Impeach Bush.
