Israel, stand on your own two feet and stop relying on the United States

In this article, I am both chilled to the bone and angry beyond belief as I read, “71 percent of Israelis believe that the United States should launch a military attack on Iran if diplomatic efforts fail to halt Tehran's nuclear program, according to a new poll.” Not that I am advocating warfare; but why are they relying on the United States to bomb Iran?

To those polled in Israel, all I will say is that if you believe you are at risk from Iran, is that you take matters into your own hands and stop relying on the United States to do your dirty work.  Lord knows we have our own security to worry about.  I am sorry if that sounds cold, but the taxpayers of this country demand that our government look out for our best interests and not the interests of another country that is able to defend itself.  Notice the operative word, able.  I am all for coming to the defense of country not able to defend itself.

I know that you are able to defend yourself since this article clearly states Israel has a stockpile of 400 nuclear warheads. “According to retired US Army Colonel Warner D. Farr, M.D., Israel is the fifth largest nuclear superpower in the world.  By 1967, Israel already had 15 atomic bombs in its arsenal. In 1976, their nuclear arsenal grew to 15 to 20 nukes, and by 1980 jumped to 200. According to Farr, in 1997, Israel now has over 400 nuclear and hydrogen weapons.” So, why do you need the United States military to defend you and launch a strike on a neighboring country?

By the way, you were able to protect your own interests when you bombed Lebanon last summer killing innocent Lebanese who did nothing to warrant any attack upon them.  Of course we supplied your fighter jets with $280 million dollars to fuel your fighter jets all at taxpayer expense.  In the interest of self-protection, I feel that money could have been better spent here at home within the borders of the United States.  We even gave you $48 million dollars to rebuild a Palestinian power plant that you knocked out.

To those polled, you say you fear a nuclear Iran; well just think of how they feel knowing that a close neighbor meaning Israel has that extensive stockpile to take them out?  Put yourself in their shoes and see how you would feel.

Speaking of Iran’s nuclear capabilities, one only has to read this passage, “the 2005 NIE (National Intelligence Estimate) concluded that Iran would not be able to produce enough highly enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon until “early to mid-next decade,” with general consensus that 2015 would probably be the earliest. Interestingly, since 1995, U.S. intelligence officials continually estimated Iran to be “within five years” of the capability to make nuclear weapons.”

In this powerful essay written in April of 2006, by Ron Paul who is now a Republican presidential candidate, he wrote, “Though Iran is hardly a perfect democracy; its system is far superior to most of our Arab allies about which we never complain.  Already the coordinating propaganda has galvanized the American people against Iran for the supposed threat it poses to us with weapons of mass destruction that are no more present than those Saddam Hussein was alleged to have had.  It’s amazing how soon after being thoroughly discredited over the charges levied against Saddam Hussein the Neo-cons are willing to use the same arguments against Iran.  It’s frightening to see how easily Congress, the media, and the people accept many of the same arguments against Iran that were used to justify an invasion of Iraq.”

I find the latter part of his statement concerning Congress and the media to be highly important since both were used by the Bush administration to invade Iraq. Instead of seeking out people in the know such as Scott Ritter and Hans Blix, all we got was propaganda from both.  As the years wore on, both Congress and the mainstream media woke up to these lies and distortions.  Those of us in the alternative media knew the lies from the get-go.

As an independent not affiliated with any party, there are some pundits that I do pay attention to and one of them is Pat Buchanan.  I often find a wonderful bluntness in what he has to say.  In this article, he opines, “Today, the United States has 30,000 more troops in Iraq than on the day America repudiated the Bush war policy and voted the GOP out of power. And President Bush, self-confidence surging, is now employing against Iran a bellicosity redolent of the days just prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom.”

I suppose that the 71 percent of Israelis who want us to take action will find comfort in these words expressed by Pat Buchanan, “Bush is now moving into Phase III in his War on Terror: First, Afghanistan, then Iraq, then Iran.” Buchanan also states of Bush, “He no longer fears the power of Congress, and his rhetoric suggests he is contemptuous of it. He is brimming with self-assurance”

We have all been exposed to one terror plot after another and some are bound not to believe any of them.  We have heard it all before as if the sky is falling coming from this government.  But, let us say this one is true, where the AP reported that a terror plot targeting U.S. facilities is to be believed.  They reported, “Three suspected Islamic terrorists from an al-Qaida-influenced group nursing "profound hatred of U.S. citizens" were arrested on suspicious of plotting imminent, massive bomb attacks on U.S. facilities in Germany, prosecutors said Wednesday.”

To those polled in Israel, as you will see we clearly have our own set of security problems that we must deal with to protect our nation and it is about time that you stand on your own.  Call it the interest of self-preservation if you will.  The threat as reported in this article was coming from Pakistan and other groups based in Central Asia.  No where in this AP report did I read that this terror plot had anything to do with Iran.  As this government and the State of Israel fears a nuclear Iran, this terror plot uncovered chemical ingredients that had “the explosive power of 1,200 pounds of TNT.” While not as devastating as a nuclear bomb, it still has the lethal force to take out innocent victims.

We have our own set of problems just like Israel has theirs and it burns me that those polled wish for us to be their police force.  The United States of America cannot continue to be the world’s police force considering the fact we have broken borders here at home which congress and this administration are not dealing effectively with.

In closing to those polled, what I do suggest is that you demand of your government some heavy diplomatic lifting to iron out your differences with Iran.  Tell them they are to send a diplomatic force to Tehran and they do not come home until there is a verifiable peace between both of your nations.  As an American citizen, I do not want anymore blood on my hands.  Through the Iraq War or rather occupation, we have lost over 3,700 American lives and as reported, one million innocent Iraqis.  Here is where you must stand on your own two feet.
