Anna Hunter and the Anti Poverty Committee went to far and have crossed the line to becoming criminals. They may continue to fight but there credibility is now in doubt. The APC have put on a disgusting performance at their 15th and Main protest .
Police Chief Jamie Graham said the protesters simply went too far. Chief Graham said "When some of these fringe groups start acting up and conducting themselves as these characters did last night, I think the gloves are going to come off and they will find themselves more and more times in court before a judge."
Insp. Warren Lemke of the Vancouver City Police called the action by his officers a success as no one was hurt, no one was arrested and the meeting went ahead, but he hinted there could be arrests as a result of the confrontation. "Three times these protesters attacked our officers," he said.
"I want to be clear. Peaceful protest is fine, but they cross the line when they start assaulting the police, when they try to force their way into a private event, when they bring tools like that to an event.
"They are no longer protesters and they should not be receiving any support," Lemke said. "They have crossed the lines to becoming criminals and we will take the appropriate action to deal with these people."
Wednesday night's clash was the latest in a series of confrontations between the Anti-Poverty Committee and Vancouver police.
