NASHVILLE, TN (November 6, 2007) -- UNCOUNTED: The New Math of American Elections exposes a threat to the core of our democracy - our right to vote. This feature-length documentary tells about what Americans are doing and can do to make certain every vote counts.
UNCOUNTED is now available on DVD. The film's theatrical premiere will take place November 12 at the historic Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, Tennessee.
Theatrical screenings of UNCOUNTED are being scheduled throughout the country through Brave New Theatres. If you are interested in hosting a screening, you can get more information at http://www.uncountedthemovie.com/screenings.html .
"UNCOUNTED tells the shocking yet true story of how votes are stolen in America," said producer/director David Earnhardt. This bold new film, by Emmy award-winning Earnhardt, exposes how voters were cheated during the 2004 and 2006 elections - and why it is likely to happen again in 2008. In factual and logical ways, a variety of computer, statistical, and election experts show how the unethical and illegal manipulation of the vote can change the outcome of every election - whether on a local, state, or national level.
"Very powerful. Clear and succinct. This film is urgent viewing for those who care about democracy and the integrity of the electoral process."
Robert Koehler, Syndicated Columnist, Tribune Media Services
UNCOUNTED reveals stories that didn't make the headlines, stories that will leave viewers outraged by the ways the American election system is manipulated:
- Clint Curtis, a Florida computer programmer, was directed by his employer to create software for voting machines that would "flip" votes.
- In Emery County, Utah, Bruce Funk, the elected County Clerk was unceremoniously locked out of his office by the county commission after he complained of security flaws in the Diebold manufactured voting machines the county uses.
- Diebold is also at the center of Californian Steve Heller's tale of election malfeasance. While working as a temp at a law office, Heller found out Diebold was using illegal uncertified software in their voting machines.
"Uncounted explores the disquiet many American voters feel about the health of their electoral system and explains why they are absolutely right to feel unnerved."
