More Universal Wisdom to Chew on.

Third in a series of articles prepared strictly to try to interject some of the Universal Wisdom being articulated by the scientists and philosophers of the day, this article asks what Progressives are going to do about the Church.

I live in Rick Warren territory, and oh yeah that Crystal Cathedral is a few miles up the road also.   I am witnessing a very interesting trend of both lifetime and converted Christians suddenly becoming very verbal with their new praises of Jesus.  My sense of humor is often much too irreverent for the general public, so I have to really be careful and tone it down.

Now, you will never hear me denounce anyone's spiritual quest or tradition that they were born into, as long as they have THOROUGHLY questioned what it is that they are being taught by the church and the society at large.  It is well-documented that the Church, the organized religions of the world are telling some great big whoppers.  We could get into a discussion for weeks about the different lies and affronts to decent, compassionate people that the Church leaders continue to spew forth, but that is not the topic of this article.  We will simply focus on how it is that the Progressive movement is going to tackle the idea of removing religious bias from legislation and public policy, while creating an environment where a true multicultural society can exist peacefully; the religious alongside the spiritual, alongside the atheists, alongside the different races and skin colors and languages etc.

What is compelling to me is that we do not yet have an organized, focused, active political action group formed yet, other than the ACLU and Human Rights Campaign, which cover the aspects of legislation and adjudication.  What we need is a public policy action group to engage the fundamentalists who have a grip on policy makers.

The blogosphere and youtube have proven to be formidable opponents to the mainstream media's seeming marriage to the fundamentalist church's hold on the public airwaves, to the point of causing Rick Warren and other "leaders" some embarassment and back-peddling (recent Proposition 8 news coverage).  I am here to formally propose that we up the ante and begin to question the assumptions that these people make in order to formulate their view of the Universe.  Is it possible?  What would it look like logistically speaking?  Would it have an office and a broadcast station of its own, website only, or radio and TV?

Because if we do nothing, they are going to continue to try to take over the nation and the world, for that matter.  And remember, they believe that they can delay responsibility for be absolved completely for the judgment of their sins, and have no incentive to "get it right" when it comes to public policy.

"Do not wait for the last judgment. It takes place every day."
