Tonight, I sat down to watch Michael Vick play quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles because I felt he deserved the chance as a starting player once again. I had a visitor watching the game with me; he's kept up with things on earth for a long time.
I remembered when Vick was put in jail and suspended from playing NFL football for working with dog fighting. I'm against dog fighting, but it's something that's done in many countries, and it would have been just to stop him from doing it, and given him a major financial fine.
But no, they put him in prison and stopped him from playing at the peak of his career in the NFL. This reminded me of what the U.S. government did to Muhammad Ali; at the peak of his career, when he refused to support the war in Vietnam, even though they offered him the same easy ride Joe Louis had in WWII, Ali refused and was forced into jail. But, in time the American people realized Ali was right, and the warmongers in DC were wrong.
But let's get back to Michael Vick -- and George W. Bush.
What is ironic about all this is that George Bush, Dick Cheney,
Paul Wolfowitz and our revered generals are guilty of thousands of American deaths and
hundreds of thousands of Iraqi and Afghan deaths, but none of them have been
prosecuted for a war in Iraq that was based on lies that they created. It almost
appears to a person from Mars that dogs are more valuable than human lives on
the earth, at least to America and its chief ally, England.
Incidentally, Tony
Blair, the former head of the British government is being investigated for his
lies that also helped lead British soldiers to their deaths in Iraq, and the
killing of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. Oddly enough, this is not happening
in America to Bush and his cohorts. This puzzles both me and my visitor from
Mars.
This puzzles my friend -- the person from Mars. He wonders how it is that a person who is an upstanding citizen, a leader in his community, a person who does not kill other humans, but makes the mistake of having dogs fighting, is more guilty than these aforementioned men who knowingly had hundreds of thousands of human beings killed and millions wounded and displaced, and who are now feted, given large pensions, are sought after as speakers making millions?
The person from Mars joins me in wondering about the strange circumstance of a man who did a minor mistake, having to pay for it in a much larger way than did Bush and his cohorts who were, as I believe -- and the world knows I am correct -- responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths of Americans, Iraqis and Afghanis.
But, getting back to the game tonight; it was a pleasure seeing Vick get his chance to once again play the game he loves, and he did superbly until he got hurt as he took a chance to help his team and was injured. When he left the game, it was a real letdown for the Eagles and for the fans, but they, like me, hope his injury is not serious because we want to see him get on with his career. We wish him the very best, and I know the whole city of Philadelphia feels the same way, as do most Americans.
But for the life of me, I can't understand, nor can the visitor from Mars, why anyone would respect Bush, Cheney, Blair, Petraus, McChrystal, Gates, or any of the other warmongers. Both the visitor from Mars and I know these men, and especially their old boss, George W. Bush, belong in jail.
