Has Big Oil Created A Dead Zone In Washington D.C. ?

As we sit back and relax, sip our beer and lemonade at the family barbeque, this July 4th weekend we get a chance to talk to family and new friends about the dismal state we now find ourselves, and our country after 244 years of growth and expansion, we have to admit that things have not worked out as we had intended.

Saying that our problems are the fault of previous administrations, or all the Democrats fault, or the fault of the Republicans, we miss the point completely by placing blame conveniently on the other's policies and legislators. It doesn't matter who poked the hole in our boat when we are scrambling for the life-boats, hoping to get out alive.

As I see it through the lens of the disaster, I understand just how destructive Big-Oil, with the assistance from the to-big-to-fail banks, has destroyed our environment, our way of life, and our while sand beaches in the name of uninhibited greed. Some will say that the problem lies in government inaction, some will say it was due to abandoning all safety standards to hurry the product to market. What we have in the gulf is an unabated destructive flow of oil, some on the surface, some below the surface and some dispersed in to rain clouds which are devastating crops and fields within the Gulf states. The fishing industry is decimated, birds are dying, pelicans cannot reproduce and shrimping is all but dead. But we already know these facts.

The environmentalists have stated that these under the surface plumes of oil are creating a dead-zone in the Gulf. Oxygen is being removed from the waters, so that life cannot continue. I wonder if this is also not the case in Washington D.C.. Big-Oil has sucked the oxygen out of our nations capitol through 30-years of special interests, de-regulation, excusing themselves from clean water and APA regulations and subsidies with special tax treatments (subsidies) to the criminals. I don't wish to go into who caused what, only to speculate that the air in Washington has become so toxic and dangerous as to eliminate clear thinking, logic and reasonableness from today's Congress. There is not enough oxygen left to allow critical-thinking about what we have done, nor what we should do. The Pentagon, Department of Defense and National Security Administration can not catch their breath and their wars have no definable objective, a reasonable timberline, nor a concept of what victory would look like, but the war-hawks persist with their feather covered in oil-money

Consider Gerald Ford's decision not to investigate Richard Nixon for his crimes against humanity. Ford wanted to move forward, Nixon was gone, Ford rejected any legislation to investigate Nixon. Jimmy Carter refused to look into the complete pardon of Ford, he wanted to move forward. Ronald Reagan's campaign committee came on board under suspicious circumstances in using the CIA and Israeli to make sure that Carter would not be re-elected, preventing the release of prisoners being held in Iran before his elections (October Surprise). George Bush senior refused to investigate since he was Reagan's vice-president. Bill Clinton refused to investigate Bush. Bush-43 refused to look into Clinton's crimes, hoping that the next president would not look into his crimes against humanity, and it still goes on with Obama refusing to investigate Bush-43. If we never question our past, we will surely make the same mistakes over and over. If automobile manufactures didn't investigate the failures of their cars, they would all be death-traps with a top speed of 15 miles an hour. If NASA didn't learn from their failures, we would never have gone to the moon and the International Space Station would never existed. If manufacturing was not on a course of continuous improvement, we would all still be farmers working the land, 40-acres at a time.

How can rational minds expect to move forward if they refuse to investigate the mistakes of the past ? Has big-oil fouled the air in Washington so badly with their campaign contributions and special favors, or has the toxic dead-water filled the Potomac ? The bickering among Congress members demonstrates a lack of planning, and big-oil will plan the future for them. The thought in Washington seems to be, cough-cough, not to make a stand if we can point fingers later.

We have started a war of aggression against Iraq, but why ? They didn't threaten us, it was Sandia Arabia which supported and trained the suicide pilots on 9-11-2001. Through the toxic fog of big-oil contributions from Saudi Arabia, we never investigated the real cause. The Dead-Zone in Washington, starving political minds from oxygen and reason, does not benefit our country one-bit.

We went to war with Iraq because Iraq would not allow American and Great Briton oil companies to bid on their oil contracts. All right, Saddam was not a likable sort of ruler, so maybe he had to go. The results of our invasion into Iraq now allows Aramco, Shell Oil, Exxon and BP to profit from the wells. Mission accomplished with a great loss of life, both Iraqis and UN & American Troops. What amount of money was repaid to the UN troops, the English and American troops, in repayment for the $1Trillion contributed by the American taxpayer ?

In Afghanistan, big-oil wanted to install a cross country oil pipeline but couldn't do it while Afghanistan was unorganized and without a government. Big-Oil pressured those in Washington to provide stability so that they could become profitable in one of the largest supplies of oil in the region. The stench in Washington prevented logical and reasonable answers to the big-oil requests, so they sent 88,000 soldiers and 132,000 private mercenaries trained to fight on battle fields, to fight insurgents which would better be fought with CIA hit-squads of just a few thousand soldiers. Where is sanity ? We are building schools, roads and hospitals while we allow the schools, roads and hospitals in our home-country to self-destruct for lack of money. Taxpayers are agin being raped to pay for protection for oil deliveries, paying our enemy in a protection racket, supplying our enemies and feeding their corruption to handle the wishes of big-oil. Americans really don't care about cross country pipelines half way around the world and should not be forced to pay for it.

Meanwhile the Dead-Zone in Washington allows our economic & society at home to disintegrate. Washington doesn't give a hoot about Americans, as long as they can keep stealing from the taxpayer, and that source of funding is quickly ending due to economic conditions. The dead-zone in Washington has become a city of inaction towards domestic issues, Members of Congress are addicted to the cocaine being supplied by big-oil money.

It will be many years before the Gulf of Mexico will return to supporting life, but Washington D.C. may never recover.
