BAILING OUT

"One of the secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others"- Lewis Carroll quote

With all due respect, I write this note from the tea party.

The bailout has passed congress and been signed by Bush.

A distasteful and bloated mixture of pork and perks.

But it is a done deal and now we must monitor this creature.

After all, it is a creation of all of us collectively who have dived into the the dark pool of "Caesars Bank". "Let him who is without sin, toss the first silver dollar." Let him who lives without "Caesars wages" and has not lived on profit and loss, tighten the noose and pull the switch.

In my mind "the hypnotism of Democracy" is just another refined attempt at crowd control. The same illusion of freedom that the Greeks, kings, communists and socialists and myriad churches and mosques use in a failing attempt to tame the beast that resides in the hearts of man. A worthy ideal but an impossible task. The tamer himself needs taming. Is this our legacy to the future generations?

How eloquently we speak of freedom, when in reality we live under the yoke of commerce and the pirates that haul its offspring. Those pirates are us. Hypnotized shipmates on a ship of fools, bailing water until we die and face our supposed Gods. Bailing water as most ignore the suffering that surrounds us. A suffering we could alleviate if we were only awake. But no, it is much easier to set our sails for choppy waters. The rescued has become the rescuer and the rescuer doesn't realize that the problem is the rescue. Rescued from what? Will we turn into cannibals if there is a depression, or will we suck it up and take care of each other. What if things get better? How base are we? Do we need Gods and Governors to guide us or do we guide ourselves? Are we incapable of taming our own beasts or do we need tamers with platitudes, systems, parables, and sticks and carrots?

The anger and disappointment that grips America must be turned into a positive, if we are to survive this "rescue".

Not only are we involved in two wars and a faltering economy,(The 2 aren't exclusive of each other) we are also bleeding from partisan, personal, and well meaning agendas that are tearing America into pieces. This division in America, this serious rift in the conscience, confidence, and soul of the American Dream will be the death of us as a nation if we cannot come together.

Why not tame ourselves and then fix the world? First we must stop killing each other. Its easy to do, you just stop. It may kill you, but why exist in a world of death? Is it because we can not let the other guy win. His victory will be dross as surely as ours will. Or maybe we should practice civility first and slowly move towards non violence.

"One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. Which road do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response. I don't know, Alice answered. Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter."- Lewis Carroll.

I'm going back to the tea party. You are all invited.

Tnut.
