An Unkind Word

Like a missile,
Through and through,
From one side,
Of the body,
To the other.

Mass destruction.

Everything in its way,
Taken out,
To waste.

An unkind word,
A deed,
A moment,
Of discontent,
Taken to,
The extreme,
From one corner,
Of a room,
To the other.

From the,
Corner of one's mouth,
To the deepest depths,
Of another's being.

Chambered missile,
In place,
And fired,
Upon command!

An off the cuff,
A jibe,
A barb,
A dig.

And everyone,
To wound,
To the quick,
In order,
To inflict,
Maximum damage.
