U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy on Sunday delivered a stunning warning to travelers in the United States, telling NBC News' Meet the Press 'what you see in Newark [NJ] is going to happen in other places across the country.' Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) on Sunday faced 'another air traffic control equipment outage,' causing 'the FAA to implement a ground stop for [inbound] flights Sunday morning,' CNN reports. 'It comes after a 90-second-long radar and radio outage early Friday morning in the Newark approach control facility,' CNN adds. 'A similar incident, during a busy afternoon on April 28, caused five air traffic controllers in the facility to take trauma leave, which resulted in more than a thousand flights canceled.' 'The Congress and the country haven't paid attention to it, right? They expect it to work,' Duffy said. 'So now I think the lights are blinking, the sirens are turning.' Posting video of Duffy's interview Sunday, journalist Aaron Rupar wrote, 'Good luck, air travelers!' 'Maybe you shouldn't have let Elon [Musk] fire like half the FAA?'
