There is more trouble brewing in Pakistan. On Thursday, the ruling coalition in Islamabad announced plans to impeach President Pervez Musharraf on charges of leading the country into political and economic crisis. But while many are hoping for him to resign and go quietly, others fear that Musharraf, who came to power in a military coup in 1999, might use his well-honed political instincts to repulse any efforts to oust him. |
