600 educators of color & education scholars of color have signed a statement opposing failed billionaire-backed “reforms” intended to privatize public schools and deprofessionalize teaching. The statement was drafted by Kevin Kumashiro, it can be found on his website. "We know that education has a vital role to play in advancing social justice, human and civil rights, and democratic ideals. But many so-called "reforms," while framed with commonsensical and seductive rhetoric, are in reality dismantling schools and colleges with disproportionate harm on historically marginalized communities. Unique and effective resources for teaching and teacher education, leadership and transformation, research and engaged scholarship, and advocacy for policy and the public good are offered here to support individuals and collectives in building stronger movements for equity and justice in education."
