Donald Trump thought targeting NFL players with his racialized venom would be smart politics. He was wrong. In “the Alabama speech,”Trump called for protesting NFL players to be fired and referred to anyone who protested asa 'son of a b*tch.'" It started with Colin Kaepernick, and it ends with understanding the “brotherhood” that exists in NFL locker rooms. F ormer NFL coach Rex Ryan, a formerly vocal Trump supporter said, “I’m pissed off, I’ll be honest. I supported Trump, and I’m appalled at these comments. SOBs? Not the men that I know.”
