Trump, Clinton Spark Debate Over Cause of Orlando Shooting

The shooting spree which left 49 people dead at a gay nightclub in Orlando drew condemnation from both Democratic and Republican parties in the US. However, the presidential candidates from both parties spurred a debate with different views on who or what is to blame following the massacre. Donald Trump called to seek potential terrorists among Muslim Americans. He called on Obama to step down from the presidency and challenged Clinton to step up her language regarding terror threats. Hillary Clinton called for tighter gun controls in the United States. Reiterating President Barack Obama’s words that it was an “act of terror” and “act of hate,” Clinton urged to “redouble our efforts to defend our country from threats at home and abroad,” including from international terrorist groups.
