Copyrighted Image? DMCA | Although born in New York City and of Jewish ancestry, Wendy Doniger has been the western world's leading scholar on Hinduism for decades. While in high school, she studied dance under George Balanchine and Martha Graham. Later, in 1962, Prof. Doniger graduated summa cum laude in Sanskrit and Indian Studies from Radcliffe College, and then went on to receive a Ph.D. from Harvard University, as well as a D. Phil. in Oriental Studies from Oxford University. In this video, she discusses her recent book "The Hindus" (which Ms. Doniger calls her "book of books") and tries to explain the appeal and importance of Indian religion, as well as it's history and culture, despite having been brought up in such a radically different environment. |
