The author asks "Who is more problematically ideological" and goes on to compare apples to oranges. I ask since when does defending property rights include condoning over the top racist remarks? Let's not forget that Rand Paul's best friend of many years and his first campaign manager had to resign that political post because of overt racism in public. Why hire a racist to represent your views if you don't at least sympathize with racists? If Rand Paul honesty did "abhor" racism his best friend wouldn't be one.

The mainstream news doesn't always get it right, sometimes they don't even get it and there are times that when they do get it, they refuse to print it (i.e. failure to report on lead up to war and refusal to question in print John McCain's physical and mental fitness). However, the editors of the Courier-Journal did peg Rand Paul correctly.
