According to James Lovelock, author of Gaia, that may be the most intelligent response--not saying I agree, or that we should not keep trying (as that seems to be genetic and no one is a prophet), but this is food for thought. Were it not for our own progeny, and so many beautiful children around the world, this would make complete sense to me.
