It is mind boggling how rapidly the US is going down now. The Trump phenomenon is stunning. The response of Congress is shocking. There is no way this nation will ever again be the leader of the free world. There is no doubt whatever that Trump is deranged and is being allowed to continue his destruction of our nation by Congress. The Republicans have refused to put an end to the disaster and are treating it like a bad dream that they can quietly endure for political reasons.
Any sane interpretation of "high crimes and misdemeanors" would have resulted in his impeachment long before now. The media have adopted an idiotic response to his daily unhinged actions. They conduct panel harangues by political supporters and surrogates that inevitably result in shouting matches.
The Trump phenomenon has frightening similarities to the rise of the Third Reich. How in hell did the framers of the Constitution fail to anticipate this? I'm reading The Assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. The rise of Heydrich and the criminal insanity of all Hitler's top men has so many similarities to what we see here today. Whether Mark Twain said it or not, the statement, "History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes." is validated in the United States today.
