I work to live. I live to be with my family and to read books, and write. I still have hope, but as a realist, I am beginning to despair as the years pass. As another writer on this site mentioned, intuition can be routed by fear. I fear the rough math I did last year which told me (intuitively) that about 5000 individuals control over 6 billion lives on planet earth.
