I'm a Vancouver writer and film-maker.

I have written extensively on political issues, mostly involving American foreign and domestic policy, and also issues in common with Canada such as the ongoing Omar Khadr case. My favorite outlets are OpEd News and ICH, but I have written for other online and print publications over the years, and am proud to have been published alongside such names as Gore Vidal, Ralp Nader, the late Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Noam Chomsky, Presidents Carter, Clinton and Castro, Joe Bageant, and many others. I hope I have been able to contribute a little to the intelligent discourse found here and rare sites elsewhere.

In addition, I have written, produced, and directed humorous short films, and recently produced a filmed stand-up comedy competition at Vancouver's lovely Center for Performing Arts. A documentary will ensue.

For over twenty years I assisted my wife Brenda Carr in the running of 'The Studio' a safe-haven Art Program for Vancouver Street youth. The program provided various art media, but more importantly a safe and non-judgemental temporary refuge from the streets. We provided rudimentary food, clothing, small loans (or gifts), assistance with housing or job searches, addiction counseling, and basically whatever it took. And yes, we gave out our home phone number for use in emergencies only. The courtesy was never abused.

Of the thousands of youth who went through the one-person program (one a heroin addict at age twelve) the vast majority emerged from family and personal difficulties relatively unscathed and 'normal', some to have families of their own. We did lose some to suicide, substance abuse, accident, illness, and one to Robert Pickton, the notorious pig-farmer/serial killer. They are all remembered fondly.

I am currently working with a number of extremely talented actors. I am writing, producing, and directing a sketch comedy pilot for television, and hope to receive funding for our first full season.
