The author is a contributing editor to the Southern Poverty Law Center's Hatewatch blog. Dr. Evelyn A. Schlatter has been professionally editing for nearly fifteen years. She cut her teeth at a historical journal while working on her Ph.D. in history at the University of New Mexico and then split her time there and at the University of New Mexico Press until 2000, when she finished her doctorate. She was hired full-time at UNM Press as an acquisitions and managing editor until 2004, when she moved out of state. She currently freelance edits for a variety of publishing houses, academic and non-academic.
