Jeremiah Goulka writes about American politics and culture.  His current work is focused on security, race, and the Republican Party, of which he is a former member.  His recent work has been featured in Salon, The American Prospect, andTomDispatch. Jeremiah was an analyst at the RAND Corporation, where he conducted research on national security, criminal justice, and diversity.  He deployed to Baghdad to study detainee issues for the report, The Mujahedin-e Khalq in Iraq: A Policy Conundrum, of which he was lead author.  He served as the legal staffer for the Congressionally-mandated Military Leadership Diversity Commission, and he was a member of the RAND research team that helped end the militaryâ??s â??Donâ??t Ask Donâ??t Tellâ? policy.

Jeremiah was an attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, hired in the Attorney Generalâ??s Honors Graduate Program (before it was politicized).  He worked in the Civil Division, Federal Programs Branch, representing the United States in constitutional, foreign affairs, and administrative litigation in federal and state courts. He has been  a Professor of Policy Analysis in the Pardee RAND Graduate School, a Visiting Fellow at the Northwestern University School of Law Center for International Human Rights, and a Tutor in American History at the University of Edinburgh.

 He lives with his wife in Washington, D.C.
