Mailman by trade; artist ( painter ) by nature. Married, have grown kids, and live in the heart of the redwoods on the California north coast. Spiritual-minded, as opposed to religious. Insatiable reader, but not of political books; mostly art books , novels and history. I follow politics avidly but reluctantly; wish I didn't have to, but feel that I must. I'm more progressive than centrist, but "Democrat" doesn't fit well as a label, so maybe "Democracy-crat" is more apt. The core values of our Democracy are sacred, and I loathe any attempt to dismantle them. Always vote Democrat; period. Also, I'm a staunch union guy; a Shop Steward in a local union branch; making sure of worker rights in the workplace. About the only modern politician that I've truly trusted is Howard Dean. I'm loyal to a few 'blog sites', OpEd is one, and don't hop around. I tried being a member to only one of them for awhile this past year, but the commentators were too narrow and cruel ( to each other more than to me ), so I quit that site altogether. I might like to try contributing an opinion or two now and then in OpEd, if I actually have something to say, otherwise, I'll just read what other members write.
