I am a native Detroiter recently off the mommy track. I am a Liberal/Progressive blogger - interested in what the hell happened to our country. I support the right of workers to collectively bargain and the right of all citizens to run their own lives as long as they are not infringing on the rights of anybody else. I am a Social Worker/Teacher by trade and a former college newpaper editor and journalism is still my passion. I strongly believe that we have to change the way things are done in Washington (not the Teabag way) in order that we pass a strong & free country on to our children. I strongly believe that we have become a country where opportunity is becoming more and more scarce for the middle & working classes & we are mired in the Military/Industrial machine that is enriching a few elite elected officials and private contractors as it sucks the life out the rest of us. I don't believe corporations are people - and I do believe they are selling our nation off brick by brick to line their own pockets. The outsourcing of our jobs has to stop - we need fair trade - fair taxation - an end to corporate tax dodgers - an end to the republican policy of tax breaks for corporations and the rich and the policy of balancing the budget on the backs of working Americans.
