A retired MBA, I am a former corporate ideologue, former 3rd party advocate and current curmudgeon. While a continued supporter of a 3rd party, I have concluded their efficacy cannot be demonstrated until our form of Government is changed to facilitate proportional representation. This will require an Amendment to the Constitution which Congress will not support.

I am skeptical of our democratic republic's turn to plutocracy as its form of governance. As a member of Convention USA, I support an Article V States Convention for the purpose of Amendment considerations beyond the influence of Congress.

My interests include ending our Government's policies of war and empire, restoration of monetary, fiscal, and trade policy sanity, reversing the income inequality trend, and improving social justice, the seven major defects of modern day America.

On these concerns and others, I am an open book; reference OpEdNews - Articles - Author's Page for Harold Hellickson

Obama Placates with Palliatives
SHARE More Sharing
At the top of Obamaâ??s domestic policy agenda are 1) the economy, 2) health care, and 3) education. Looking at each, what is mostly evident is palliative placation; palliative being the soothing of a disorder without effecting a cure, and placation being allaying our fear. In effect, Obama speaks big but acts small, for he fails to propose substantive plans to address the important issues he identifies.

Blagojevich gives Senate Democrats the finger and rightfully so.
SHARE More Sharing
The current position articulated by Senate Democrats is no more than "the pot calling the kettle black". Senate Democrats should reject the notion of "passing on sins of the father" and accept Governor Blagojevich's position for what it is; a legal appointment while giving them the finger.

Rich Doing Better & Poor,Worse
SHARE More Sharing
There is little question that the rich are doing better; that the poor and the middle class are doing worse. Logic suggests that looking at the positions of our Presidential candidates on estate taxes should tell us where they stand on the middle class. McClain should oppose estate taxes, right? Obama should favor them, right? Wrong on both counts. Why?
