As a forensic videographer, I explored part of Umboi Island, Papua New Guinea, in 2004, searching for the elusive ropen. After two weeks, I was forced to return to the U.S., with no sighting of the creature but with many videotaped interviews with eyewitnesses. I later wrote two non-fiction books about living pterosaurs. I have also interviewed eyewitnesses from others areas of the world.
