I believe we are products of our environment and that shapes our values. The following is a brief glimpse of my experiences. I grew up in a very small community, one that my family has called home since the mid-1800's. I went to a two room school for the first two years of my grade school experience, in that home town. I was influenced by open minded, free thinking grandparents that were born in the first decade of the 20th century and nearly saw the 21st. I've had an ecclectic list of jobs. Along the way I have worked, farming, as a factory worker, a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, I owned and operated Buerkett' Dairy Bar on route 97 in Salisbury, Il, which my granparents opened in the spring of 1960, added a tavern to the ice cream store, was a Union Laborer, Co-founded a not-for-profit community service provider agency,(group homes for the developmentally disabled),and after returning to college and getting my Bachelors Degree I am currently a Revenue Tax Specialist II with the Illinois Department of Revenue. Never saw that last one coming.....
