Coumba Makalou is an African-American journalist and activist who was born in Bamako, Mali.
Growing up in Bethesda, MD, as the child of an IMF director, she grew up with the most influential political families of the African continent and with an inside understanding of the effect of foreign policies on the economies of the African countries.
She has also a BA from the University of Maryland and has been an outspoken person on behalf of African Affairs and the advancement of Africa's relations with America.
