Calvin was originally a lawyer.
He was dedicated to reform of the church and he got his chance to build a reformed church when the citizens of Geneva revolted against their rulers in the 1520's.
He imposed a strict moral code on the citizens of Geneva; this moral code was derived from a literal reading of Christian scriptures.
Naturally, the people of Geneva believed that they had thrown away one church only to see it replaced by an identical twin; in particular, they saw Calvin's reforms as imposing a new form of papacy on the people, only with different names and different people.
So the Genevans tossed him out. In early 1538, Calvin and the Protestant reformers were exiled from Geneva.
This form of religion now is the basic of the radical religious right.
Christian Reconstructionists believe that all aspects of human society must be under Godï s dominion and that Godï s laws apply to all spheres of human life,
1.Christian Right argue that there can be no government neutrality towards religion.
The only good that comes from human actions occurs as a consequence of complete submission to Godï s laws. Reconstructionists reject the possibility of neutrality or neutral ground in religious matters. Therefore, a secular state is anti-Christian and anti-God. The USA is a Secular State and therefore has to be changed.
2.Every law structure or system is an establishment of religion. There can be no separation of church and state.
That the First Amendment was designed to protect state-established churches.
The Religious Right rejects the possibility of autonomous humans being able to do any good.
They are classified as depraved sinners, humans can do no good outside of God.
Anyone that is not a Christian is evil. The Bill of Rights and Constitution are evil and should be replace with the 10 commandments.
3. They are more explicit and detailed in their economic view than other evangelical or fundamentalist movements.
They defend laissez faire capitalism and free markets as the only system compatible with Godï s laws. They support flat taxes and minimal government, and oppose all forms of socialism.
4. Religious Right hate UNIONS, Social Security, public schools, welfare programs, Medicare.
They believe all taxes for these programs should be given to their religious organizations to control and convert the evil non Christians to Christianity.
5. They also believe that if your are poor, mentally handicapped, physically disabled. It is your fault because your are not a good Christian and you should suffer till death.
