This is in the interest of the whole world that the United States must win this war on terrorism. There was a time when no one was ready to accept the fact that terrorism is threat to Pakistan and whole world, but now this fact has been accepted by all and sundry.

OEN was the first news organisation, which first brought this issue in the notice of the world that terrorism is the main problem of Pakistan, but now the whole media has been accepting this fact. But at the moment rulers of Pakistan have still been playing double game as they are eager to get dollars from the United States. They are still avoiding to directly hit the terrorists. Pakistan establishment has also divided into groups on the issue of terrorism. A strong group within the establishment does not want to eliminate terrorism as they think that through terrorism they can blackmail the US and keep themselves in power. A US diplomat has also addressed a press conference in Peshawar.

The US government wants operation in North Waziristan Agency (NWA), a US official posted in Pakistan said Tuesday.

Talking to media here, US Consul General in Peshawar Miss Candace Putnam said the operation against the extremists in North Waziristan is vitally urgent; however, it is Pakistani government to decide beginning about any action there.

Responding a question, the US official said the US troops will stay back in Afghanistan until Al-Qaeda is utterly eliminated, adding the US policy in Afghanistan is unchanged.

She continued however, the US search troops will begin withdrawing from Afghanistan from July 2011.

Lauding the military operation in Swat and tribal areas against the saboteurs, she said her government is initiating more development programs in Malakand Division, adding the work on 108 schools, 35 healthcare centers and six water schemes, is underway.

The rate of stealing from the goods bound for the US troops is only one percent, which is satisfactory, she added.

E. Candace Putnam assumed charge as the Principal Officer at U.S. Consulate Peshawar in August, 2009. On February 9, 2010, the Consulate was upgraded to Consulate General status and she became Consul General.

Previously, she also served as the Political Counselor at Embassy Islamabad.
